From double handling to seamless efficiency: The Intuitive Group’s success with intelliflo
Customer profile
The Intuitive Group is a boutique financial planning and mortgage broking firm, based in Carlton, Victoria. Its team consists of three staff members: A CEO working across planning and mortgage broking, a financial adviser and a mortgage broker. According to The Intuitive Group, the practice is set apart by its blend of experience and youthfulness, with each of the team members in their early 30s. Despite having a younger team, most of The Intuitive Group’s clients fit the typical financial planning client profile: pre-retirees or retirees. Given the practice’s focus on both mortgage broking and financial planning, it benefits from cross-referrals from broking clients to the planning side.
This case study is based on feedback from The Intuitive Group financial adviser Will Pickering, who introduced intelliflo to his company.

Drivers for moving to a new system
As a small business, The Intuitive Group’s financial advisers manage a heavy administrative load and needed a solution that could help to improve efficiency and integrate their client information.
We thought our previous solution was suitable for our needs, but realised a number of the elements were siloed or not well-integrated, which meant we were spending a lot of time double handling information.
Before joining The Intuitive Group, I came from a business that had used Xplan and while it had some useful functions, there were also a lot of parts that were unnecessary for The Intuitive Group.
I first heard about intelliflo from another financial adviser and thought it sounded like it would be a positive addition to our practice. After a couple of meetings with intelliflo, I realised it ticked a lot of our boxes, especially its ability to hold everything in one hub.
Seamless data migration and onboarding
The onboarding and data migration process was straightforward for us. The data migration process didn’t take a long time. Our other tech stack didn’t have data feeds, so we’ve been in the process of setting those up.
The support experience
It’s been a great hand-holding experience with intelliflo, which is something we didn’t have with our previous provider. From the onset, Ellie took me through a lot of processes, including setting up some new workflows. It was also a supportive environment through a lot of the system learning.
Throughout the process, I’ve had a few questions, but I’ve either been able to look up the information easily or reached out to intelliflo’s support team. They always get back to me quickly with an answer, which again, wasn’t our experience in the past. With our old provider, sometimes we’d be waiting weeks, but intelliflo would get back to us in a much shorter timeframe.
A changed business poised for the future: intelliflo’s impact
intelliflo has improved our processes significantly and allowed us to keep all of our information in one spot.
The document creation has had the most significant impact on my workload. Since moving to intelliflo, the time I spend creating documents has reduced by 30 to 40 per cent. I was essentially double handling the information previously.
As a business, we’ve quickly come to embrace the task management process, which now has a lot more structure. It’s given us greater oversight of when clients are due for an annual review. It’s also ensured that we’re not missing anything.
Our clients have enjoyed the cashflow modelling, which has given them a clear visual representation of how their behaviour affects their overall goals. I think it’s quite a big add-on to our service menu. In the future, we may incorporate intelliflo’s client portal.
The other intelliflo feature I love is the customer-inspired change program, which allows users to suggest a change and upvote additions to the intelliflo model.
Looking ahead, we are happy with our growth trajectory as a business and are looking to continue at this pace. Incorporating intelliflo has allowed us to integrate our information into one hub, has significantly improved our efficiency and has delivered the support we expect from a tech provider. It’s also helped us to showcase what we offer to clients. We’re looking forward to seeing how intelliflo’s offering evolves over time.
