The decision to move to iO was as a result of our previous system not evolving adequately to cope with the changing regulatory landscape. We had used 1st Software for nearly 15 years but it was clear to us that investment in the system had dwindled and as a result, it was not able to cope when the Retail Distribution Review arrived in 2013. We then spent the next few months running 1st Software’s system alongside a paper system to ensure we were FCA compliant. This obviously had huge time and cost implications which we could not afford.
After looking at what was available in the market, we made the decision to move to Intelligent Office early in 2014. The system has delivered a first class income reconciliation system saving us at least one third of each working week which has allowed us to re-utilise that time and expertise in other parts of the business. The income reconciliation module is intuitive and evolving because once an income stream has been matched, the system remembers it the next time.
When we moved to Intelligent Office, we made a conscious decision to clean our data, so we could make the most of the system-generated MI reports available. Together with the data migration team at Intelliflo, we spent a few months thoroughly cleaning our data and getting it into the right format with the correct information. While this process was an investment of our time, we are now reaping the benefits of this deep and detailed cleansing activity and feel 100% confident in our MI reports and data
Another vital function of Intelligent Office is the ability to build robust business processes through event lists and workflows. In the post-RDR world, where all advisory firms need to prove to the FCA that they are giving clients best advice, using iO’s rich functionality means that we can demonstrate what steps we have taken to advise the client, when and by whom at which stage of the advice process. We are also able to show what type of communication we have had with the client and what documents have been sent to them.
The income reconciliation functionality of Intelligent Office is fantastic. It is really intuitive and has saved us at least one third of a working week.
