Fhoenix Financial Services is a firm of independent financial planners and advisers based in Dorset. It provides a friendly, approachable and professional service that has been helping clients identify opportunities and achieve their potential for over 10 years. Fhoenix Financial Services is a forward thinking firm that makes use of today’s technology to enable it to deliver a skilled, efficient and professional service to corporate and private clients.

Fhoenix Financial Services switched to Simply Intelliflo Plus (SIP), also known as Intelligent Office, in 2012 in a project headed by one of its directors, Duncan Powell, who talks about the reasons why his firm decided to utilise SIP and how he found the process of moving.

“SimplyBiz has been our network of choice since 2003 and SIP became our business management system in 2012,” says Powell.

“Reconciling our income had become a laborious task. The final two GABRIEL reports submitted to the FCA using our old system took over two weeks to complete. Once we had SIP up and running, this was reduced to just two hours. So, as well as significant time savings, we also realised substantial cost savings and were able to redirect staff time to bringing in more business.

“The fact find capability within SIP is also impressive. Over the past few years, we have added and customised our own fact find from the comprehensive template already supplied within SIP and at a recent FCA risk workshop, our fact find was held up as evidence of a robust process. We currently use the offline version, but are looking to move towards the online version over the coming year.

“We take the compliance services from SimplyBiz and we have workflows set up for all business conducted. This means that the same process is followed every time for the same piece of work for all clients regardless of who is transacting the business, making our compliance checks very straightforward. All documents, letters and emails to do with a particular client or piece of business are saved against one binder. The parting comment from the last SimplyBiz compliance checker was; “The FCA should have no concerns with this company.”

Our previous back office system became too expensive and couldn’t cope with reconciling our income efficiently. We looked at a number of different options on the market, but chose SIP because of the financial planning and fund analysis tools, as well as the fact find capability and the client portal.
