SW Financial Management Ltd is a personal IFA firm based in Hamilton, Scotland with its Director having over 20 years’ financial services experience. It prides itself on providing personalised and tailored solutions on mortgages, pensions, protection and investments. The firm believes in building long-term relationships with clients to ensure their needs and aspirations are met and this approach has resulted in steady growth by referrals and introductions from its accountancy partners and existing clients.
SW Financial Management started using Intelligent Office (iO) when they moved to Compliance First, the Scottish arm of the SimplyBiz Group, after its previous system, True Potential, was unable to support the business in the way it wanted. Director, Simon Wroe decided in 2015 to look for a new system that would seamlessly integrate with other systems and software tools it was already using. Here, Simon explains how the combination of the capability of iO and the services from Compliance First have worked for his business.
“As an advisory business owner, one of the major challenges we face is to ensure the business always meets the necessary compliance requirements,” says Simon. “So after researching the options, we decided to move to Compliance First and at the same time start using iO.
“As part of our membership package, we receive two dedicated compliance checking site visits each year from Compliance First and this, along with the file checking functionality on iO, means we are confident we are always compliant. Everything we do on iO leaves an audit trail and this makes file checking very quick and easy. Additionally, all elements regarding a piece of business are saved within one binder, which eliminates the need to spend time finding and pulling together the relevant documents when required. In this respect, the two systems work well together.
“However, any new systems we procured would have to do more than just help with compliance. As costs and in particular the FCA levies, continue to rise, any system would also have to be able to show time and cost efficiencies throughout other areas of the business. Indeed, there are a number of areas where iO has helped us in this respect.
Our firm has seen steady growth since its inception six years ago but our previous back office system, which was fundamentally a CRM system with a compliance bolt on, just wasn’t coping with the volume and complexity of business we were generating. We also felt we weren’t getting the necessary support the business needed, so we began to look for a system that would grow with us and make transacting business simple and easy.
