Role Overview

The Technical Product Specialist – Financial Planning & Modelling is an engineering-aligned role sitting at the intersection of software development, financial logic, and product delivery. You will act as the technical subject matter expert for our financial planning and modelling capabilities, working hand-in-hand with engineering teams to design, build, validate, and maintain robust financial calculation engines and
modelling frameworks.

This is a technical, hands-on role. You will be expected to engage directly with code, APIs, data structures, and system architecture — bridging the gap between complex financial modelling logic and the software systems that deliver it. You will own the technical integrity of our financial planning models, ensuring they are accurate, scalable, and compliant at every stage of the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Modelling & Technical Ownership

  • Serve as a technical owner of intelliflo’s financial planning and cashflow modelling engines, ensuring correctness, performance, and maintainability
  • Design and document the financial logic, calculation rules, and data models that underpin product features, with sufficient technical precision for direct implementation by engineering teams
  • Translate complex financial planning concepts — including tax wrappers, pension legislation, investment growth assumptions, and income modelling — into detailed technical specifications
  • Write, review, and validate test cases (unit, integration, and regression) for financial calculation logic, identifying and resolving discrepancies between expected and actual outputs
  • Maintain version-controlled documentation of technical specifications relating to modelling assumptions, business rules, and calculation methodologies — ensuring a clear audit trail of all changes

Engineering Collaboration & Delivery

  • Embed within agile engineering teams, actively participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical design reviews, and retrospectives
  • Author detailed technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and user stories with a level of precision that enables engineering teams to build with confidence and minimal ambiguity
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to developers during implementation, including reviewing pull requests and validating that financial logic has been correctly implemented
  • Work with QA engineers to define comprehensive test strategies for financial calculations, contributing to automated test coverage where possible
  • Contribute to technical architecture discussions, particularly where financial logic interfaces with core platform services, data pipelines, or external APIs

Technical Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as a technical point of contact for financial planning and modelling queries from internal teams
including product, engineering, and customer success
• Support technical onboarding and integration activities by providing detailed guidance on how
intelliflo’s financial modelling capabilities work under the hood
• Produce technically precise documentation, including API references, calculation guides, and
integration specifications, for both internal and external audiences
