Accessibility Guidelines
Website accessibility means that users with disabilities have equal access and equal opportunity to browse the intelliflo.com site from all devices. When creating or editing your page, keep the following in mind:
Text equivalents for images
- Alt Text: provide a text equivalent for every non-text element, such as images. Use the “Alt Text” field in the image editing option to add alt text when uploading images to the media library.
- Descriptive Alt Text: ensure alt text succinctly describes the content of the image. Avoid unnecessary phrases like “image of.” For complex images, provide detailed descriptions.
- Decorative Images: Use
alt=""for decorative or non-informative images. For images used as links without accompanying text, the alt text should indicate the link target
Text in images
- Acceptable use: text in images is acceptable if it is part of a logo, seal, or minimal and legible text accompanied by a live text equivalent. Avoid using images with text in templates that crop or cover parts of the image on different screen sizes.
Multimedia Alternatives
- Video and Audio: provide synchronised full-text captions for publicly available videos and full-text transcripts for audio-only presentations. Captions should include speaker identifications and sound effects.
- Live Streaming: use available tools and vendors for live-streaming events. For nonpublic video (or audio), captions (or transcripts) are not required but should be provided within a reasonable time if needed.
Colour and Navigation
- Color-Blind Accessibility: choose colours distinguishable by colour-blind viewers. Essential functionality should not depend on colour distinctions.
Moving Elements
- Avoid blinking effects: avoid blinking or flashing effects to prevent seizures.
Image Optimisation
- Fast Download: optimise images for fast download times. Include the
altattribute with descriptive text for critical images. Use emptyaltattributes for incidental images. - Image Dimensions: specify image height and width to improve download times.
Document Accessibility
- Accessible Documents: ensure all documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) are accessible.
